PHIL 1700 - Introduction to Philosophy

The purpose of this course is to engage the student in a number of central topics in philosophy through the examination and analysis of the writings of contemporary and historical works in philosophy as well as through the close study of several fundamental philosophical issues. Topics of study will include areas such as the nature of human knowledge; perception and illusion; the nature of consciousness; personal identity; minds, brains and machines; freedom and determinism; philosophy of religion; and the meaning of life. 3C/3/0/0

Prerequisite(s): READ 0722  or READ 0724  or EAPP 0900  with a grade of “C” or better or appropriate assessment score
