Basic chemical theory and applications are covered with an emphasis on the principles and theories of atomic and molecular structure; periodic properties of elements; thermochemistry; reaction stoichiometry; behavior of gases, liquids, and solids; molecular and ionic structure and bonding; energy sources and environmental issues related to energy use. The lab component includes the application of chemical concepts through observation, data collection, quantitative measurement, and problem analysis. 3 hours of lab required in a 16-week semester. 4C/3/1/0
Prerequisite(s): MATH 0920 or CHEM 1700 with a grade of “C” or better, or appropriate assessment score
