MEDS 1562 - Billing and Reimbursement

This course provides an introduction to commercial, managed care and federal insurance plans, including medical claim form preparation and processing, as well as the reimbursement systems and prospective payment systems (PPS) used in the healthcare industry. Billing processes and procedures will be discussed and practiced including clean claims and denials and adherence to the National Correct Coding Initiatives. Chargemaster maintenance, regulatory guidelines, and reimbursement monitoring and reporting will be covered, in addition to compliance strategies. Must earn a grade of “C” or better in this course to proceed. 2C/2/0/0
