CSCI 1423 - Computer Networking 1 - Client 4 Credits
This course introduces students in networking programs to workstation-based operating system design, implementation and administration. The primary components of workstation operating systems such as process management, memory management systems, file systems, security subsystems, I/O control subsystems, etc. are reviewed at the conceptual level. UNIX and Windows based operating systems are used as implementation case studies. Students are expected to become proficient with the ideas inherent in operating system design and how these ideas are implemented in both UNIX and Windows based workstation operating systems. Workstation-based peer-to-peer networking is reviewed in the context of both Windows and UNIX based networking. 4C/4/0/0
