CSCI 2420 - Computer Security


4 Credits


This course is a comprehensive introduction to computer security. The course is an in-depth introduction the concept of cybercrime and security in networks and the internet. It presents the conceptual frameworks of computer security assessment. Topics covered include denial of service attacks, malware, viruses, trojan horses, worms, encryption, industrial espionage, internet fraud, cyber terrorism and information warfare. The course makes extensive use of in class and Internet-based laboratories within which computer security scenarios are implemented and strategies for their design and operation are reviewed. Students taking this course should have a background in computer networking and a thorough understanding of client/server networking. With extensive outside study and review students in this course may become prepared to become certified as Security+ level technicians. 4C/4/0/0
