PHIL 1780 - Philosophy of Race, Gender, and (Dis)ability

3 Credits

We often categorize ourselves and others based upon race, gender, and (dis)ability. This practice raises profound philosophical questions. What makes someone Black, White, Asian, a man, a woman, trans, disabled, or able-bodied? (When) are these categories sources of oppression or tools for fighting for justice? What is required for racial/gender/disability justice? This course introduces you to philosophical tools for thinking about and discussing these questions productively, focusing especially on productive engagement with those with whom you disagree. 3C/3/0/0
